I'm hoping the LCD will ameloriate this without offering lessor quality than my NEC 1375X-a (Fewer dead sub pixels?)īTW, my reason for going the LCD route is simply because, with spending 8-plus hours in from of the screen, my eyes are beginning to feel like they are being pulled out of my head. It is nearly $400 more, so perhaps there are other better quality parts or QC with the Pro. I do like the slim frame on the Pro model. The specs on the two monitors are identical with the exception of the input connector. According to my Matrox G-550 info, the card does not support DVI-D Yes, I just checked and I am going to switch to the Pro vp211b as it has the DVI-I input rather than the DVI-D input of the 2000. I am anxiously awaiting your experience with the ViewSonic LCD monitor. I prefer the 1600x1200 resolution because I prefer to look at two browser screens of information on the internet at the same time. I find it difficult to look at the monitor for more than about 30 minutes at a time. But, elsewhere on the screen, out of the corners of my eyes, I see flicker. Even at the high refresh rate, where I look directly on the screen, there is no flicker. I run my ViewSonic monitors, PF790's, at a high refresh rate and 1600x1200 resolution. I understand color gamut quite well, but I have yet to see any gamut charts for monitors, either CRT or LCD.

This being the case, if the LCD monitor is calibrated, along with the printer, wouldn't this combination be the same as, or close enough to the same as, a calibrated CRT monitor and the calibrated printer for photo editing?

I know the general consensus is CRT's are the best for performing graphics tasks.īUT, when editing photos, since the photo is static, there should be no problem with movement, eg, ghosting. This is now becoming a high-priority question for me, also.
